Background
The Critical Communications Enhancement Program (CCEP) will deliver increased Government Radio Network (GRN) coverage throughout the Greater Metropolitan Area (GMA), an area of approximately 20,185 square kilometres. The NSW Telco Authority’s GMA region covers greater metropolitan Sydney to the Great Dividing Range, north to Port Stephens and south to
Gerringong.
What will the CCEP GMA project deliver?
The CCEP is working to enhance the existing network within the GMA by almost tripling the number of 46 current sites. Increasing the density of radio sites and the addition of dedicated in-building systems across the GMA will result in significant improvements in hand-held radio coverage and in-building coverage.
Priority sites within the GMA
Working in collaboration with public safety agencies, an additional 15 radio tower sites within the GMA have been identified as priority. Stage one construction activities for these GMA priority sites will commence in the second half of 2018.
