The NSW Telco Authority has completed capacity enhancement works at a government radio communications site at Little Darkey.
Managing Director of NSW Telco Authority Kylie De Courteney said the new site, delivered by the NSW Telco Authority, is vital to community safety.
“During an emergency, every second counts. The additional bandwidth will minimise any potential for network congestion when needed,” Ms De Courteney said.
This is one of eleven government radio sites across the State being upgraded as part of a capacity enhancement project.
“By expanding network capacity at existing towers, the NSW Telco Authority is delivering additional emergency service radio communications capacity to our communities,’ Ms De Courteney said.
The NSW Government is also investing $320 million to expand the government radio network from 190 to approximately 700 sites under the Critical Communications Enhancement Program.
This represents the biggest investment in critical communications infrastructure by the Government in two decades and will boost the network’s coverage from 35 per cent of the State to more than 80 per cent.
